Terri has fended off challenges from House Speaker Mike Madigan’s hand-picked candidates in two consecutive elections. During the last Session, Terri voted down efforts by Chicago Democrats to create more than $2 billion in NEW programs. Our state went more than 2 years without a budget and Democrats in Springfield continuously tried to pile on even more State spending. Terri repeatedly voted against the Democrats’ unbalanced budgets and Chicago bailouts.

Terri will continue to push for reforms to help get us back on the right track, to grow jobs in our communities, and effectively use Southern Illinois’ wealth of educational and natural resources to grow tourism and improve the regional economy.

Terri is sponsoring tough welfare reforms to cut down on fraud and save taxpayer dollars. Her plan requires drug testing of welfare recipients, including a work requirement to receive food stamps, and bans illegal immigrants from receiving taxpayer-funded benefits.
